The recommended fix for this has been to move the blogs over to blog.domain.com. We are all agreed that domain.com/blog is still the better location for a blog when it comes to SEO however the change to blog.domain.com may not be possible to avoid – do you know of any technical workarounds when it comes to redirects, server software or non-wordpress blog systems that may help with to move to the subdomain?
